Web Design University
Posted by: | CommentsI found a wonderful new web design course operated by the good people from iThemes. They have a ton of information they present on a variety of design topics and also have some very good information on actually running your business too. I found the videos on how to use Firefox add-ons very helpful and easy to understand. Best part is many of these tools are free and can be quickly obtained. They are giving a ton of advice on using WordPress to not only build a Blog, but as a Company or personal website. This was one area of great interest to me and I found many shortcuts and excellent advice in setting up WordPress to work well with SEO.
One topic that went into excellent detail was Branding. I know that many users can benefit from this and how important it can be to the success of your Blog or Business.
The site is easy to use and the recordings and videos are professionally produced. I joined with the yearly membership option and know I already have received training that is more valuable than the price of the membership and I’m only in the second month.

New Script for Blogs
Posted by: | CommentsIf you’re a blogger like me, you’ll know that one of the biggest challenges we face is getting repeat traffic.
A great way to do that of course is by building a mailing list of opt-in subscribers.
The problem is how to capture your visitor’s details without alienating them with a huge great hover popin.
Well now I think I’ve found a solution…
I’ve recently come across a cool little script called Ultimate Footer Ad that slides a small strip up from the bottom of your browser.
You can use it to capture email subscribers, as well as convert visitors to rss subscribers or twitter followers.
It does it all…
What it doesn’t do is annoy your visitors by stopping them from reading your valuable content.
The feedback on this software has been amazing:
John Chow describes it as…
- One of the best promotional tools I have ever used.
And Legendary marketer Terry Dean had this to say…
- I’ve added 126 extra new subscribers to my list just in the past week.
Not only that, it’s dead simple to use. You can literally have this thing installed and running on your website in 10 minutes.
So if you’re looking for a way to increase traffic and revenues with your blog, grab your copy of Ultimate Footer Ad before this really catches on…
P.S. Top UK marketer Frank Haywood used this tool to increase his average daily blog subscription by 249.84%. So the longer you wait, the more subscribers you’re missing out on. Check out it out!
Techniques for Building Backlinks
Posted by: | CommentsAlong with keyword optimization, link building is a very important part of making your website optimized for search engines. You can’t neglect link building and expect your search engine rankings to go up. The more links back to your site from other sites, the better your site will rank. Here are some ways to make your site extra link-worthy.
Ask to exchange links. You would be surprised how many people don’t think to do this. Find other sites that have some relation to your site’s content and that have good content themselves. Then ask if they’d like to give you a link in exchange for you giving them a link. Most are happy to do so because turning down back links is like asking to have a lower search engine ranking.
Use website directories to your advantage. There are free directories and paid ones, but both types can be very SEO friendly. Submitting your website to directories is like listing them in the yellow pages for the 21st century.
Article marketing is another great way to get back links. Write (or have someone write) articles for sites like ezinearticles.com, work.com, and goarticles.com. Make sure that each article has links to your website. Once your articles are accepted and published, voila! Back links!
Write stuff that people want to read. There is no way around it: great content is essential to having a successful website. If people think you have good content, even if they’re not the least bit interested in whatever product you’re selling they’ll link to it. Good content is the way to get real, organic back links that you didn’t have to go out and ask for. But you should do your part, too by using social bookmarking sites to get the word out that you have good content.
Forum participation is good, but you have to be careful. If a discussion group or forum only thinks you’re there to flog your site, you won’t be very welcome. Some sites allow you to put a link to your site in your “signature†and some don’t. Check the FAQs, and if you don’t find the answer, ask someone on the forum. That’s the polite thing to do even if they’re very open to people linking to their site.
There are many other things you can do to build links. Comment on blogs, use social bookmarking sites, write articles, and keep on doing it. Link building isn’t the sort of thing that you do once and forget about. It has to be an ongoing process, just like maintaining and updating your site. If you’re always adding fresh back links, your site will enjoy better search engine ranking.
How to Drive Traffic to Your Website Using Ezine
Posted by: | CommentsUsing ezines to publish your article is more beneficial when you have a website to drive your audience. Without a website you will have an audience wanting to know more about you and your business but not a means to gain that information. The leading reason people publish their articles on ezines is to gain traffic to their sites.
To begin using ezines, make sure you have quality content in the articles. They need to be informational so people will be interested enough to read them. Add plenty of links to your site with your articles. If you have the options, add a link in your signature so they can click on the link to arrive at your site. Put a link in the header too if possible. You can add a link within in the header by linking a word to your site, or you can list the link within the signature. Add a banner on either side of the header that links to your site. Within the footer, you can include information about the company, contact information, and a spam policy as well as copyright information. Always include your URLs in every place possible.
Every article should be linked to your web site. When you link your site to everything you write you provide the audience a means to locate your site with a simple click of the mouse. You can expand your linking by summarizing the titles of the articles within on article. This method serves as a great method of internet exposure for a larger audience.
List your articles in article directories. Within each directory, add your link to the website in the opt-in page of the directory. In the author’s resource box, add a link as well.
Publish your ezine by a press release directory. This method increases people finding your article and your site. Press releases are a great attention-getter in the business world.
Exchange advertising with other ezine publishes and links on your site for an ad on their site. It is just like link exchanged marketing but at a higher level. You are creating a network of writers who have reached the masses with quality content in their articles and websites. Use their internet popularity to make your business flourish.
Use special offers. Announce the offers in your ezine. Use a “tickler†in the ezine to encourage the audience to go to your website to find out more information about the special offer. Use a link with the tickler to generate the traffic based on their curiosity. Create a contest or survey on your website. Use the ezine to announce the contest.
Feature a product or service in the ezine article. Once again, use a tickler and a link to your site that will sell the product or service.
